Bachelor of Global Liberal Arts | Okamoto | 25 per year (100 total) |
Special Track for Accelerated Global Education (STAGE) is a new degree program of Global Liberal Arts established in April 2024. Through this program, students aim to acquire interdisciplinary competencies for addressing the pressing challenges of our evolving world, developing creative solutions, and contributing to social advancements.
A key feature of the program is the “Double Study Abroad” requirement, where students study in different linguistic regions twice during their time at the university. By meeting and interacting with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, students not only improve their language proficiency, but also develop tolerance for multiple cultures and problem-solving skills rooted in different value systems.
STAGE students engage in cross-disciplinary subjects, including social sciences, international understanding, and data science and AI. Through gaining a broad understanding of these subjects, students develop the ability to analyze and solve social problems from a multifaceted perspective.
In the program, a small-group education system is in place, with 11 faculty members advising 25 students per year in the “STAGE Seminar,” which runs from entrance to graduation. The seminar covers a wide range of topics, such as "Sustainable Societies (SDGs)," "Regional Revitalization," "Intercultural Communication," "Global Issues," and "Global Business."
The program also includes practical projects with businesses and municipalities for students to develop real-world problem-solving skills. Through the STAGE program, students are expected to acquire the necessary skills to become “glocal” talents who can think globally and act locally.
