GRADUATE SCHOOL OF NATURAL SCIENCE
GRADUATE SCHOOL OF NATURAL SCIENCE
Basic Educational Policies for the Konan University Graduate School of Natural Science’s Environment and Energy engineering Program
There are many approaches to solving environmental and energy problems. The aim of this program is to come up with engineering solutions by working on the properties of materials from the perspectives of chemistry, physics, and earth science.
Based on our founding principles, we teach specialized knowledge and high ethical standards in the field of environment and energy engineering on a foundation of fundamental natural science in response to the demands of modern society. Through these efforts, we aim to cultivate highly specialized professional who have acquired that knowledge and those standards, and develop researchers who will contribute to the development of environment and energy engineering.
Based on our founding principles, we teach deeply specialized knowledge and high ethical standards in the field of environment and energy engineering. Through these efforts, we aim to develop researchers who have the ability to be able to independently conduct research and development in each area of specialization in the field of environment and energy engineering, and highly specialized professionals who have the outstanding abilities necessary to engage in highly specialized work related to environment and energy engineering.
Completion Certification and Degree Conferment Policy
Konan University Graduate School provides teaching and research on academic theory and application with the foundations to this being our general and specialized education cultivated based on Konan University’s educational philosophy as stipulated in Article 1 of the Graduate School Regulations. We then foster deep scholarship and outstanding abilities to master the depths of that academic theory and application or to assume a position that requires a high level of expertise. In this way, we aim to contribute to the advancement and development of human culture, and the promotion of social welfare.
The environment and energy program in the Graduate School of Natural Science develops individuals who possess broad knowledge in the field of natural science and specialized knowledge in the field of environment and energy, who have acquired the abilities necessary to engage in specialized work or highly original and excellent research and development abilities, and who have high ethical standards.
We confer a master’s (science and engineering) degree to those who have enrolled for the period specified by this department, who have taken the class courses specified in accordance with this program’s curriculum composition and implementation policy, who have earned at least the prescribed number of credits (a total of at least 30 credits consisting of 18 credits from required specialized subjects, at least 6 credits from required elective foundation subjects and at least 6 credits from required elective specialized courses), and who, upon having received research guidance, have passed the master’s thesis defense and final examination conducted by this program within the prescribed term.
