| In this department, we strive to
make improvements in relevant academic approaches in order to
offer a wide range of studies while considering the Japanese
culture from an international standpoint.
Presently, there are courses where students can study and
do research on Japanese language and Japanese literature respectively.
The curriculum is developed for both courses so that you can
choose which subjects you wish to study. Students in the Japanese
Literature course can study classical literature and modern
literature with up-to-date methodology, and students in the
Japanese Language course can study modern Japanese vocabulary,
grammar and dialects. Each course provides the necessary classes
that must be completed for teaching Japanese literature or
language librarianship, and other professions.
Through special classes which focus on Japanese expression
in addition to reading classes, research classes, seminar
classes where composition and oral presentation are necessary,
and also through student teaching experiences and the writing
of the mandatory graduation thesis, the department takes active
steps to enhance each student's Japanese language capacity.
Students are also given the opportunity to take classes offered
in other faculties and departments. Furthermore, they can
participate in a student teaching program where they can teach
Japanese abroad, and foreign exchange students may come to
study at Konan University upon taking a transfer admission
test. In this way, Konan has designed a variety of programs
in order to nurture a true sense of interculturalism.
