Institute of Human Sciences

A place for research that is one step ahead and that focuses on "caring for the mind"

This Institute was established with the aim of creating and developing a new field of research through cooperative projects on "The Crisis of the Mind of Contemporary Man". The core staff members from psychology, philosophy, and art have been collaborating on these projects with researchers from other fields such as social sciences. The Institute has been supported by the Ministry of Science's Frontier Program (1998-2007) and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s Supported Program for the Strategic Research Foundation at Private Universities (2008-2013), and our research on this theme continues to the present. Our current activities are divided into three categories; 1) Better care and education for children, 2) Confrontation with the past and envisioning the future, 3) Philosophical study of Human Science. In addition to research activities, we offer training programs and opportunities for local community members including children and their parents to participate in these activities. Our Journal, "The Crisis of the Mind and Clinical Knowledge" was published in 21 volumes between 2003 and 2019 with more to come.
