The Research Institute is a symbol of Konan University's effort to provide an academic environment oriented toward integrated, interdisciplinary research.

It publishes research in a wide range of fields that goes beyond the confines of individual faculties or departments. Every year, plans are made to pursue scholarly work on a specific theme, and research teams are formed. The results are then published in the Institute's Research Series, numbering approximately 75 volumes.

In addition, the Institute sponsors a series of lectures that are open to the general public. It is an open scholarly institution that welcomes research in a variety of fields.
