This is the program for degree-seeking at Konan University. In order to enroll in our university, an entrance exam is required of all applicants. For information regarding the entrance examination for international student admissions, please check the Admission Guidelines available on the Admissions Center’s homepage. For specific details, please refer to the “Eligibility of Applicants “section of the Admission Guidelines.
Nearly all classes at Konan University are conducted in Japanese. Accordingly, applicants are required to have sufficient Japanese language ability to participate in the classes.

日本政府（文部科学省）奨学金留学生（国費外国人留学生）は、日本政府（文部科学省）からの奨学金を得て日本に留学する制度です。国費留学生として、大使館推薦と大学推薦の２つの枠があります。

毎年、文部科学省から各大学に大学推薦の国費留学生の募集があり、それを受けて、甲南大学が留学生を募集し、文部科学省に推薦します。

The Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (abbreviated as Monbukagakusho in Japanese or MEXT in English) sponsors scholarships to enable foreign students from around the world to study and earn degrees at Japanese universities. There are two types of government-sponsored international students: those who are recommended by the embassy and those who are recommended by the university.

Each year, MEXT accepts applications for government-sponsored international students submitted directly by Japanese universities. Accordingly, Konan University annually recruits suitable international students and recommends them to MEXT.

Applications in this category are made directly through Japanese embassies or consular offices outside Japan. Scholarship recipients are recruited and initially screened by the Japanese embassy (or consulate general, depending on the country). Because the application process differs according to the country in which the Japanese embassy is located, please inquire at the Japanese embassy or consulate general in your country for details.

甲南大学と協定を締結している海外協定校との学生交換プログラムです。本学の学部・研究科に所属し、所属する学部・研究科の授業を受講します。前期は4月から、後期は9月から始まり、期間は半期または１年です。主にアジアの海外協定校が対象となります。求められる語学レベルは日本語能力試験２級以上もしくは同等のレベルです。詳細については、所属校の留学担当部局にご確認ください。

Students enrolled at partner universities may apply through their home institution to study at Konan for one academic year or one semester term depending on the nature of the partnership between the two universities. Interested students must meet the Japanese language ability requirements specified by their home university to participate in exchange programs at Konan that begin in April and September. Generally speaking, required language proficiency is equivalent to JLPT N2 or higher. For further information about studying at Konan University, students should contact the study abroad office of their home university or the Konan International Exchange Center (KIEC) at Konan University.

1976年に米国イリノイ大学と甲南大学が協定を締結し、米国の学生を甲南大学で受入れ、午前中に日本語を勉強し、午後に英語で日本の文化等の授業を履修するプログラムです。現在では、米国だけでなく、カナダ、イギリス、オーストラリア、ドイツ、フランス等の海外協定校からの留学生も受け入れています。プログラム期間は9月～翌年5月になります。秋学期（9月～12月）のみ、もしくは、春学期（1月～5月）のみの参加もできます。滞在方法は主にホームステイで、日本の文化を直接体験することができます。オプションとして外部の寮もあります。詳細については、所属校の留学担当部局にご確認ください。

The Year-in-Japan Program at Konan University was established by a consortium of universities headed by the University of Illinois in 1976. Initially limited to students from the US, the program expanded over the years and we are now welcoming students from partner institutions in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, Germany and France. Students join intensive Japanese language classes in the mornings. Then, in the afternoons, they attend classes they have chosen from a variety of course offerings that are all related to Japanese culture and society and are taught in English.
Participants can join our program for a single semester (4 to 5 months) or two semesters (9 months). The full 9-month program begins in September and continues to the following May, while students opting for a single semester can join either the fall term (September to December) or spring term (January to May). Most students choose our homestay program in order to maximize cultural immersion opportunities during their stay in Japan, but an off-campus dormitory option is also available. Please consult with your home institution’s study abroad office to confirm your options.

夏期日本語集中講座は協定校の学生向けに6週間、ホームステイでの滞在をしながら日本語を集中的に学ぶプログラムです。この間、様々な交流プログラムに参加し、甲南生との交流を深めます。詳細については、所属校の留学担当部局にご確認ください。

Students who join this program from partner universities will study Japanese intensively for 6 weeks and can choose between doing a homestay or residing in an off-campus dormitory during their stay. Please cousult with your home institutions study abroad office to confirm your options.

海外協定校から短期間（数日〜2週間程度）、学生を受入れ、甲南大学教員等による講義を受講し、企業訪問・文化体験・フィールドトリップなどを通して日本文化を学ぶプログラムです。

These short-term programs tend to range in duration from just a few days up to approximately two weeks. They typically involve guest lectures by Konan professors, experiential learning opportunities related to Japanese traditional culture, field trips, company visits, and exchange events with Konan students.
