MEXT Scholarship For 2026 Research students (University Recommendation)〔General Selection〕
Konan University has released the Japanese government (MEXT) scholarship’s application guidelines and the form for 2026 enrollment (University Recommendation).
■ Application procedure/ 申込手順
= Okamoto Campus =

Japanese Literature and Language course; Applied Sociology course; Human Science course: The lectures are taught only in Japanese. Japanese language proficiency is REQUIRED.
English Literature and Language course: Lectures are taught in Japanese or English. It is possible to conduct research in English

Business Administration Course: Japanese language proficiency is REQUIRED.
Economics Course: No recruitment.

Physics course; Chemistry course; Biology course; Life and Functional Material Science course:
In principle, lectures are taught in Japanese. Support in English is available from the supervisors. It is possible to conduct research in English. Japanese proficiency is NOT required.
Intelligent Systems and Informatics course: Most lectures are taught in Japanese. Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) at level N2 or above is preferable.

In principle, lectures are taught in Japanese. Support in English is available. Research and seminars can be conducted in English. Japanese proficiency is NOT required.
- All required application documents (including E-data) should be submitted to the professor who agreed to supervise the applicant by the deadline stated as follows.
- Konan University will notify the applicant whether they have been selected between June and July 2026. If selected, they will have to take the entrance examination provided by the graduate school and enroll in September 2026 if they pass the entrance examination. If the applicant fails, they will lose eligibility for the scholarship.

・Age : Applicants must be born on or after April 2, 1991.
・Academic background : Applicants must have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree or be expected to complete.
・Language proficiency
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
– Those who have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Japanese or English as their main language.
– Those who have passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) at level N2 or above.
– Those who have an official score of Tests (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS) B2 or higher (CEFL).
* Some Graduate Schools or courses require Japanese as the main language of instruction.
* Please confirm or judge the qualifications BY YOURSELF. Konan International Exchange Center (KIEC) CANNOT answer questions regarding whether you meet the qualifications.

* It is obliged to be signed by the of the university the applicant is currently enrolled in, and the letter should be addressed to the president of Konan University.
- Copy of the passport holder’s information page
- Academic transcript of the bachelor’s course (Original)
Besides, a transcript of the master’s course is required to apply for the doctoral course.
- Certificate of Graduation or Expected Graduation (Original)
- Abstract of the thesis
- Certificate of your language proficiency in Japanese or English
TOEFL, IELTS, and JLPT are acceptable (In case you don’t have the certificates for them, please consult the Contact Professor).
■ Submission deadline / 提出期限
1.You must submit all of the required documents, materials including photo data attached to E-mail to contact professor no later than 10:00(JST) on 19th January 2026.
*Contact professor need to forward the checked applications to Konan International Exchange Center by 23th January.).
2.In addition, the original (printed) documents must be submitted to Konan International Exchange Center via contact professor by 30th January 2026. Late submission after deadline have NOT been accepted.
The printed documents should be sent by FEDEX / DHL / EMS. Please confirm with the professor who will supervise you regarding the deadline for submitting documents to them.

■Winter holidays / 冬季閉室期間
KIEC office closes from 26th Dec. to 04th Jan.2026 due to winter holidays.
