About us

Our Student Counseling Center (Gakusei Soudan Shitsu) provides counseling, consultation and various activities to international students, guardians and staffs. Please read our information carefully and contact our counseling center. Counseling are also available in English.

Counseling Services and Consultation

At our counseling center you can talk with our qualified counselors about your troubles you are facing on campus or in your daily life. Counseling services are available in both Japanese and English and all services are free of charge.

Common topics that students discuss may include;
・ Academic learning/performance
・Extra curricular activities
・Future profession and career options
・Personality
・Relationship difficulties
・Mental and physical health
・Other issues in your daily life

You can directly come to the reception of our Student Counseling Room on each campus. Please note that the opening hours differ from campus to campus. If you have difficulties to visit or talk to us directly, you can contact us via phone (078-411-4647,direct call). (We do not use E-mails). When necessary and appropriate, students will be directed to other departments within Konan University or outside resources.

Information that you share in counseling, including the fact that you have used our services, will not be disclosed to anyone (including universityofficials, faculty, staff, parents, or outside agencies) without your permission. 

Psychiatric Consultation and Medication Management

At Okamoto Campus, you can talk to a psychiatrist who comes basically on the first and third Thursday of every month (13:00-15:00). If you have any symptoms you are worried about, or you are not really sure to visit psychiatric hospitals, or you want to know more about medication, please contact us. Reservation is required.

Requests for Reasonable Accommodation/ Adjustments (Gouriteki -Hairyo)

Students seeking reasonable accommodation/adjustments due to disability and who would like to be considered for reasonable accommodations should contact our Student Counseling Room, Konan International Exchange Center (KIEC). KIEC Office: https://www.konan-u.ac.jp/kiec/english/

Information provided to the Konan is kept confidential and only will be shared within the University staffs as is necessary to evaluate the request.

Common room “Saroon-Shitsu”

At our Student Counseling Center in Okamoto Campus and in Port Island Campus, we have a common room for students called “Saroon-Shitsu”. Free Tea and coffee are available, and we lend books, manga and magazines. You can also watch DVD and listen to CDs in the room.

Group activities “Kinyou-Re:hour”

During the semester, we provide group activities such as calligraphy, collage therapy, Japanese cooking at Okamoto Campus. (Fridays, 14:40-16:10).
If you have free time and you want to know about the counseling room, talk to a counselor, or make some friends, please visit us. Basically reservations are needed, however, you can also visit and join our group activities without reservation.
